It is not only the editing software that makes the quality of a video, but the initial capture. You have to shoot in HD first to get an HD rendering at the end. After that, you have to work with software that can handle very heavy HD files.
Since 2010, I shoot with my Canon Eos 7D, which allows HD. As far as editing software is concerned, I'm on a Mac, and I've tested several (Final Cut Express, Adobe Premiere, iMovie). Finally, the easiest and most practical software for the short movies I edit for this blog is iMovie.
Finally, I can only recommend you to try diving if you have the opportunity, one day, on vacation, for example. If it's your thing, you'll know it right away...

I have just discovered your blog and I am very happy, I will certainly come back often because it deals with a subject that I am passionate about recently. With my wife and my son we started our world tour in September by South East Asia where I could realize one of my dreams in Koh Tao: learning to dive.
I see that you give lots of info on fantastic places to dive and your videos are very beautiful (I haven't had the time nor the connection to watch them all yet but for sure I'll come back 😉 ).
Anyway thank you very much for sharing your passion and the time you took to make and edit your videos (although I know you do it for you too).
Small technical question, do you use a red filter?
And little question from diver to diver, what would be the three dive spots you would advise me the most in South East Asia (since that is where I am now)? Do you know a really nice wreck spot with good visibility conditions?

@Julien: no, I don't use a red filter, my camera, the Canon Eos 7D, allows me to do a white balance underwater.
My three favorite diving spots in Asia are:
1 - Raja Ampat (West Papua, Indonesia)
2 - Komodo (Small Sunda Islands, Flores, Indonesia)
3 - Sipadan (Borneo, Malaysia)
The best known and easiest wreck to dive in the area is the Liberty wreck, in Tulamben, in the northeast of Bali.

Otherwise, there are of course the famous wrecks of Coron, in the Philippines, but I have never dived there yet.
