Indonesia: Bangka [Sulawesi] + Rao [Halmahera] + Raja Ampat [Papua] – July 2019

One month diving trip in three stages, in the east of the Indonesian archipelago. First stop, the quiet little island of Bangka, in North Sulawesi. Second exploration, far from the beaten tourist tracks: the island of Rao, opposite Morotai, in the north of Halmahera (North Moluccas). And finally a new stay on the island of Kri, in the magnificent archipelago of Raja Ampat, in West Papua.

I haven't published any articles about this trip (apart from the general Raja Ampat article below, which compiles info from several previous trips). But for a little insight into this Indonesian journey in July 2019, you can revisit the Instagram stories I had uploaded as I went along below:

Diving in Raja Ampat: How to Plan the Trip of a Lifetime

Raja Ampat (Indonesia) is where I've done some of the best diving of my life. But tourism, which is booming on these islands, is jeopardizing their seabed and exceptional biodiversity.
