Advice before writing to me

Avoid questions that are too broad or too vague. Dear fellow travelers and divers, please don't send me requests like :
🌴 "Hello, I'd like to go to Malaysia, do you know a nice beach?"
😎 "I'm off to Thailand, what are the places not to miss?"
🤔 "I'm going to travel for two months in Southeast Asia. Which itinerary should I choose?"
🐠 "Where is the best place in Indonesia to snorkel?"

Start by researching your destination. For very general information on a country or recent address recommendations, "do your homework", as the Anglo-Saxons say... In other words, take charge and do your own research (you may of course be too lazy to organise things yourself, but in that case, turn to a travel agency). Some basic tips below.

Browse through a travel guide (print or digital). To find out more about the destination you're interested in. Here are some examples: Lonely Planet, Routard (FR), etc. Answers to general questions, suggested itineraries and useful addresses.

Browse online forums. There are many feedback from travelers and divers. Examples:
• VoyageForum.com (FR) 
• Plongeur.com (FR)
• Scubaboard.com

Join Facebook groups. It's often a good way to ask questions and get up-to-date information. Examples:
• Plongeurs francophones autour du monde (FR)
• Plongée aux Philippines (FR)
• Les mordus de plongée (FR)
• Indonésie en français (FR)
• Stay Raja Ampat Travellers' Forum
• Scuba Diving in Asia Pacific

Just ask ChatGPT and other AIs. But beware, the answers are not always reliable or up to date. Always check for yourself, with another source, any information given by an AI.

Contact hotels and diving centers. They usually all have websites and contact pages. To find out about prices and availability, ask them directly. They'll also be able to advise you on the best season, transport, what to bring, etc.
