Head for Gili Asahan, a small and peaceful Indonesian island, in the southwest of Lombok.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Need for islands<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">July 4, 2015. I finally set foot on the island whose name I have memorized like a mantra, for weeks: Gili Asahan. It is located in Sekotong Bay, in the southwest of Lombok, the neighboring island of Bali.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: 0;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/embed?pb=!1m18!1m12!1m3!1d1010325.6984808302!2d115.11443063985509!3d-8.442372702826594!2m3!1f0!2f0!3f0!3m2!1i1024!2i768!4f13.1!3m3!1m2!1s0x2dcd9044aff052c1%3A0x5ca782c9cd52105e!2sP.+Gili+Asahan!5e0!3m2!1sfr!2sfr!4v1505251479105\" width=\"100%\" height=\"350\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In Lombok, we talk <a href=\"https:\/\/fr.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sasak\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">sasak<\/a>\u00a0and the word \"gili\" (pronounced \"guili\") means \"island\". The most famous of the foreign travelers - and the most frequented - are the northwest ones: Gili Trawangan, Gili Air and Gili Meno. I have already been there, about ten years ago, when they were still relatively unvisited (at least not like today). But this time, they will not be part of my itinerary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I need islands, but in quiet mode. Lombok, Indonesia, July 2015.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Travelling light (without my knowledge)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When I set foot on the small beach of blond sand of Gili Asahan, it is still time for the <em>\"selamat siang\"<\/em> in Indonesia - the mid-day \"good morning\", which stretches from 11am to 3pm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For all luggage, I only have my \"cabin\" bag and a plastic bag containing two-three colorful clothes and a beach sarong, bought in a hurry for a few rupees in the middle of the night, in Bali, near the airport, in a huge tourist horror store: the Krisna, open 24 hours a day. This will be my holiday change for a day or two. <a href=\"https:\/\/petitesbullesdailleurs.fr\/en\/dive-bag-travel\/\">My big bag with wheels<\/a> stayed in Dubai. I'm rather amused by this new situation, because it's the very first time in my life as a traveler (for the last twenty years) that I don't get my checked luggage back at the arrival... And it's the first time in a long time that I travel so light!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sekotong Bay<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So without having to check in any luggage, I took a domestic flight in the morning to Lombok, on Lion Air (the famous Indonesian company&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/petitesbullesdailleurs.fr\/en\/invocation-card-prayers-lion-air-indonesia-20130602\/\">with prayer booklet I already talked about here<\/a>). Sublime view on the <a href=\"https:\/\/fr.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Agung\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Agung volcano<\/a> which dominates Bali. Then a fifteen minutes boat ride to Gili Asahan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Gili Asahan is part of an archipelago of beautiful and little known islands in the bay of Sekotong: Gili Layar, Gili Gede, Gili Rengit, Gili Nanggu... At the moment, I don't care. I am so happy to be here, on this small Indonesian island, far from everything!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Time suspends its flight. My first sunset is sumptuous. I discover, at night, billions of stars.
