Sogod Bay

Sogod Bay (Leyte Island, Philippines) is a magnificent diving spot with preserved coral reefs, thanks to several marine protected areas (MPAs). In season, whale sharks can also be seen here.

Sogod Bay Whale Sharks

I take you back to Sogod Bay, nicknamed "Whale Shark Bay", in the south of Leyte Island, Philippines... On my first trip there in 2008, I missed them. Twelve years later, I was luckier!

Back to Sogod Bay, to dive and be amazed

In lack of salt water, I'm nostalgically looking back these days to my last underwater images brought back from the Philippines... It was a year ago, early 2020. Before the Covid-19 pandemic and border closures.

We must have the eye, to locate the tiny seahorse-pygmy!

Here is the seahorse-pygmy

Come on, a little article just to help you see the tiny and very shy seahorse-pygmy that I had photographed in Sogod Bay, since many of you didn't manage to find it.

The small underwater fauna of Leyte in pictures

For lack of whale shark, in Sogod Bay (Leyte), I turned to the little people of the reef... And there's plenty to do and observe!

Sogod Bay, the Whale Shark Bay

First stage of my Philippine journey: the southern tip of the island of Leyte. For some dives in Sogod Bay, in the hope of crossing the path of a whale shark .
